The scene is a view of the Thames River and London skylinefrom a window of the Savoy Hotel. Pownall was an Australian born,English educated musician, composer and artist and is listed. This information is confirmed by the Witt Library in London, although there is some confusion about the dates shown on the file folder, showing 1840-1845. Otherwise, the information matches.He died in 1932. Orginial frame with label "W.C.Isle,Dealer in Works of Art,96 Southampton Row,Russel Square,London W.C."
