This early 19th century oil on board painting shows a British Naval Officer standing on deck, holding a telescope. circa 1790, this antique oil painting is hand chamfered and has a birdseye maple frame.

American impressionist painting,Helena Sturtevant Painting, oil on canvas, Sturtevant, This "Helena Sturtevant Ranger oil on canvas Painting, Newport, RI" measures 24 inches high by 34 inches wide.Signed on the back "Ranger" New Port Harbor 1937 Rainbow,green Schooner from New Bedford. We were told by the owner that the thought the Ranger was Vanderbilts yacht. This painting depicts sail boats in NewPort Harbor on a wonderful well lit sunning day. Gourgeous pastel like colors. The condition of the painting is excellent just in from a local CT River Valley estate. There is no inpainting under a black light. The signature does have some florescence but that is because she painted it with cadmiun red. The canvas of this Sturtevant oil painting is 20 inches high by 29 and one half inches wide. Helena Sturtevant, b1872, Middletown, RI d1946 Newport, RI ? Addresses: Newport, RI, Studied, BMFA School with E. Tarbell; Acad. Colarossi, Paris, with Blanche and L. Simon.
