The image within the frame measures 9 and one half inches wide by 7 and one half inches high.Old Lyme School Artist member of the Lyme Art association.Born 1902 Norwich CT died 1997 New London CT.Painted with Guy Wiggins,Frank Bicknell and George Bruestle in Old Lyme. See Who Was Who in American Art page 891 for more information on the artist.

Modern Art painting by artist "Jon Schueler" abstract Oil on canvas, This abstract American impressionist landscape was painted by Jon Schueler while he lived in Chester Connecticut in the 1960's.large listing in the latest 3 volumes of Who was Who in American Art by Falk. Entitled "Moon Over Chester ",This Modern movement oil painting or oil on canvas measures 30 inches h x 32 inches wide with a 32 by 34 inches modern frame. Born 1916, died 1992. There has just been a book published about Jon Schueler and his work entitled "The Sound of Sleat" edited by Magda Salvesen and Diane Cusineau published by Picador New York. It mentions Schueler in Mallaig Vaig,Chester CT and his connection with Elise (whos home he stayed at while he painted this painting). Jon Schueler was taught by Clyfford Still and Willem de Kooning. See Who Was Who in American Art page 2941 where there is huge biography on the artist. Jon Schueler was one of the best artists of his day. He exhibited at the major galleries, hung out with the important collectors,dealers in New York City and was a very important part of the Abstract expressionist movement that took place in New York in the 1950 to 1960 period and had many exhibitions at the countries premier galleries of the day. This painting is amazing because depending on the type and amount of light in the room and time of day the moon subtlely comes and goes.

The artist, Edouard Niczky, was born in 1850 in Cassel, France, a town near the Belgian border. He died in 1919. He painted mostly genre scenes, such as women and children.The plaque's title translates to (appropriately) In the Garden. This small painting on porcelain appears to be in its original ornate frame, which adds to its value.

The Village Pub oil painting New Haven CT. This painting was in the " Village Pub" in New Haven CT the longest family owned pub in New Haven. It depicts a group of what appears to be regulars in a tug of war with the old comic strip figure Andy Capp. Each canvas measures 45 by 91 inches and each are in excellent original condition.
